Good to know
This calculator gives a guideline based on general jet lag research (Eastman & Burgess, 2009) and our own nomadic travel experience. It does not replace medical advice. Do you have a chronic sleep disorder, heart condition, or take medication that affects your circadian rhythm? Consult your doctor before major rhythm changes.
Why a reset protocol?
As a digital nomad you often live at multiple speeds at once: new timezones, long workdays in front of a screen, changing sleep environments. This throws your nervous system off balance — showing up as fatigue, brain fog, irritability or poor sleep.
This tool combines three proven interventions in one plan: light (to reset your circadian clock), breathwork (to regulate your autonomic nervous system) and behavior (caffeine, screens, hydration).
What the calculator considers
- Direction of travel — East is biologically harder than west.
- Number of timezones — Eastman & Burgess rule: ~1 day/tz east, ~2/3 day/tz west.
- Sleep debt — Under 6 hours sleep extends recovery by +1 day.
- Screen exposure — High screen time = lots of blue light + email apnea.
