Crypto & Freedom in Spiritual Entrepreneurship

If you look at our pricing page, you see something unusual: we accept crypto. Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP, Solana. For a spiritual coaching practice perhaps surprising. But for us it fits perfectly with our philosophy of freedom and sovereignty. In this article I explain why – and share what I have learned in four years of crypto.

My Journey in the Crypto World

I have been immersing myself in the world of crypto for over four years now. Not as a speculator looking for quick profit, but as someone who is fascinated by what this technology makes possible for financial independence. It started with curiosity, grew into study, and is now an integral part of how we organize our life and work.

In those four years I have learned a lot – not only about the technology, but also about myself. About patience. About the importance of own research. About the pitfalls of FOMO (fear of missing out) and the wisdom of long-term thinking. Lessons that surprisingly resemble what I learned in my breathwork.

It's not just about Bitcoin – although BTC is of course the basis, the digital gold that started everything. It's about understanding the whole ecosystem: how Layer 1 blockchains like Ethereum and Solana work, how Layer 2 solutions offer scalability, how decentralized finance (DeFi) offers an alternative to traditional banks.

"Financial freedom is not how much you have, but how much control you have over what you have."

    What Is Crypto Actually?

For those new to this world: cryptocurrency is digital money that works without a central authority like a bank or government. Instead, it is secured by cryptography and distributed across thousands of computers worldwide – the blockchain.

Bitcoin, launched in 2009 by the mysterious Satoshi Nakamoto, was the first. The idea was revolutionary: money that no one can censor, that cannot be printed, that you truly own without third-party interference. Since then, thousands of other cryptocurrencies have emerged, each with their own purpose. Ethereum brought smart contracts – programmable agreements that execute automatically. XRP focuses on fast international payments. Solana offers high speed and low costs.

Why Crypto Fits Our Nomadic Life

Tessa and I live nomadically. We travel through Europe and soon the world, work from our camper, have no fixed address. In such a life traditional banking is... complicated.

Banks want a fixed address. They want to know where you live, where you work, why you receive money from different countries. For a traditional lifestyle logical, for us a constant source of frustration. Accounts that get blocked because we have "suspicious" transactions. Questions about why we receive payments from Portugal while we are in Romania.

Crypto is borderless. It doesn't matter if I am in Portugal, in Romania, or soon in India – I can receive and send payments without interference from banks that ask questions about my "fixed place of residence or stay". My wallet works everywhere where there is internet.

    What we accept:

    • ₿ Bitcoin (BTC) — The basis, digital gold, ultimate scarcity
    • ⟠ Ethereum (ETH) — Smart contracts, DeFi, programmable money
    • ✕ XRP — Lightning-fast international transfers
    • ◎ Solana (SOL) — High speed, minimal costs

The Practice: How We Use Crypto

Let me be concrete about how crypto fits into our daily life. We don't use it for everything – most daily expenses we just do with euros. But for certain situations crypto is ideal:

    • International payments – Clients from different countries can easily pay without high bank fees or long waiting times
    • Value storage – We keep part of our reserves in Bitcoin as protection against inflation
    • Privacy – Not because we have something to hide, but because financial privacy is a fundamental right
    • Independence – No bank can freeze our crypto wallet or block our transactions

    Spirituality and Financial Sovereignty

You might wonder: what does crypto have to do with spirituality? More than you would think at first glance. And this is where it gets really interesting for me.

Spiritual growth is about returning to your own power, your own authority. It's about letting go of external dependencies and trusting your inner compass. This is exactly what we work on in our transformation sessions – reconnecting with your authentic self, beyond the conditioning and expectations of others.

Financial sovereignty is a natural extension of that. Not being dependent on systems you don't understand or control. Knowing where your money is and having access to it yourself. Taking responsibility for your own financial wellbeing, just like you take responsibility for your emotional and spiritual wellbeing.

The Parallels between Inner Work and Crypto

    • Own responsibility – Both in personal growth and in crypto you are the only one truly responsible
    • Long term vision – Real transformation takes time, just like building financial independence
    • Beyond fear – Both require you to move through uncertainty into trust
    • Decentralization – Not one authority that decides what's good for you, but you as the center of your own life

    My Most Important Advice

If you want to do something with crypto, I have one urgent advice: really immerse yourself in it. This is not an area where you can blindly trust tips from others – not even from me.

⚠️ What you should NOT do:

    • ✗ Buy crypto because a friend recommends it without doing your own research
    • ✗ Buy memecoins with get-rich-quick fantasies
    • ✗ Invest money you can't afford to lose
    • ✗ Trade based on emotion (FOMO or panic)
    • ✗ Store or share your seed phrase (recovery words) digitally

Crypto is a long term vision. Just like breathwork, actually. You build something, day after day, breath after breath. You understand more and more. You become more and more confident in your own choices. There is no endpoint – only continuous growth and deepening.

    Practical Tips for Beginners

    Step-by-step getting started:

    1. Education first – Spend at least a month learning before you buy anything. Read, watch videos, understand the basics.
    2. Start small – Start with an amount you're willing to lose completely. See it as tuition.
    3. Choose a reliable exchange – Use established platforms. Do research on reputation and security.
    4. Learn about wallets – Understand the difference between "hot wallets" (online) and "cold wallets" (offline hardware). For larger amounts a hardware wallet is essential.
    5. Secure your seed phrase – These are the 12 or 24 words that give access to your wallet. Write them on paper, store them safely, NEVER share them.
    6. Dollar-cost averaging – Buy regularly small amounts instead of everything at once. This reduces the risk of bad timing.

    The Risks Honestly Addressed

I would give you an incomplete picture if I only mentioned the benefits. Crypto has serious risks:

    • Volatility – Prices can drop 50% or more in short time. This is normal in crypto, but emotionally heavy if you're not prepared.
    • Own responsibility – If you lose your seed phrase or get scammed, there's no one who can help you. No bank, no customer service, no one.
    • Scams – The crypto world is full of scammers. If something sounds too good to be true, it is.
    • Regulatory uncertainty – Governments are still struggling with how to regulate crypto. Rules can change.
    • Technical complexity – There is a learning curve. Mistakes can be costly.
"Not your keys, not your coins."
    — A fundamental wisdom in crypto: if you don't manage your own private keys, you don't truly own your crypto.

    Help with Getting Started

Some clients want to pay in crypto but don't know how to begin. No problem – we're happy to help you set up a wallet and make your first transaction. This is not financial advice and we don't sell crypto. We simply share what we know, so you can make informed choices yourself.

For us the link between nomadic life, spirituality and crypto is very natural. They are all expressions of the same underlying values:

    • Freedom – not bound to one place, one system, one way of living
    • Sovereignty – taking responsibility for your own life, including your finances
    • Long term thinking – not chasing quick fixes, but building something sustainable
    • Trust – in yourself, in the process, in the journey
    • Minimalism – less dependent on things and systems, more focus on what truly matters

Whether you pay in euros or in Bitcoin – ultimately it's about the transformation you go through. The rest is just the means.

    Finally

Crypto is not for everyone, and that's okay. It's a tool, a possibility, an option. Just like nomadic living is not for everyone, but for some exactly what they need.

What I hope you take away from this article is not so much "go buy crypto", but rather: think about financial sovereignty. About what it means to truly own your own resources. About how that fits into a life of consciousness and personal growth.

And if you decide that crypto is something for you – do your research, start small, think long term, and enjoy the journey. Just like with anything worthwhile in life.

    Until the next breath,
    — Johannes
